A green oil industry might seem like an oxymoron, but are the green and the black moving closer?
It's encouraging to hear the oil and gas industry's roadmap to meet climate targets and how that might be achieved all unveiled by Oil and Gas UK's Deirdre Michie at Offshore Europe. For me the most exciting bit is that this will be achieved, in part, through innovation driven by hundreds of new start-up companies: green entrepreneurs with the vision to make that difference.
Use of renewables and carbon capture also form part of the plan we can all hopefully look forward to the road ahead as part of the wider energy transition.
Ms Michie insisted the sector was ready for the “huge challenge” of providing reliable energy while playing a “major role” in the country’s net-zero emissions crusade.
