While all but essential workers are in lockdown worldwide, children in New Zealand have asked their prime minister, Jacinda Ardern a very important question — are the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy essential workers?
To their great relief she confirmed they were as they were performing an essential service and could carry on their work.
However, she did warn that due to possible childcare issues of their own, the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy may not be able to make it to everyone's houses.
In an attempt to be helpful, the PM suggested a number of craft-related projects that children could do instead to celebrate Easter. Although the thought of more craft projects probaby sent a shudder down the spine of most parents.
In Monday's press conference, the Prime Minister clarified that the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are essential workers delivering essential services and, as such, continue to operate throughout the alert level 4 lockdown
